Biography

Shelly has taken every artistic option offered by
New York City
to become her own brand of entertainment.

An award winning, Juilliard Bachelor and Masters of Music
graduate, a Metropolitan Opera outreach artist and
world premiere music collaborator whose performed
on over five continents with numerous orchestras
are just a few highlights of Shelly's classical music career.

Her nationally syndicated radio segment;
"Hip Hopera" (where she arranges and records
hard core rap songs in an operatic style)
is currently celebrating it's 8th season.

With her jazz quartet PAWS, Windows on the World,
Tavern on The Green and the Rainbow Room
were the stomping grounds where she found
forever home in her heart for the American Songbook
and great standards. This knowledge helped her achieve
the title of "Cabaret Star of the Year"  from Mo Pitkin's.

As a stand up comedian, she possesses
a very distinct way of speaking, performing
and improvising. Shelly has regularly made
people pee their pants with laughter  for
Z100s' Funniest Females, Caroline's
Comedy Club, Gotham, Magnet Theater,
UCB and  Stand Up New York .

In the New York City Burlesque scene
she delivers an impressive display of
improvisational skills, patter and vocal
virtuosity unmatched by any other Emcee. Known as
"the gorgeous gal who hosts the shows in which the
girls take off their clothes" Shelly has an amazing
ability to work the crowd, create moods and hand
pick songs for each occasion. A producer and
performer favorite she's hosted for Starshine,
Kitty NIghts, Hotel Chantelle, Nurse Bettie, Slipper Room,
Loose Caboose, Drive Through, Joe's Pub and many more.

Numerous television roles include:
ABC: Looking for Love, TLC: Make My Day,
Dinner Takes All, MTV: VMA's, TRL,
The State and her Operatic opening sequence
of the VMA's with Jaime Foxx has been voted
"One of the top 10 best moments in the VMA's"
every year since it made it's debut in 2001.

Although it's quite clear Shelly is very silly,
she has also studied traditional theater
and performed readings for both the
The Actor's Studio and The New Dramatists.

As a producer Shelly had a three year run of
"The Inter Arts Variety Show" at the now
defunct Zipper factory. The show had all
encompassing Art performances with everything
from BMX riders and the American Brass Quintet
to Fashion shows and full Operas. Each event
featured mini documentaries by Shelly of each
performer and were shown before every new act.

Her Burlesque Murder Mystery Musical
"The New Bohemia" played at The Fringe festival
and toured the tri state area for over two years.

Teaching, coaching and mentoring, whether voice,
improv or general artistry is a passion that runs
deep for this Diva. By helping others reach their goals
she is constantly inspired to be a better artist herself.

Shelly is currently working on over 4 new projects
including an autobiography.
